Nujabes 50th Anniversary Tribute Events to be held in 4 cities in Japan
Tribute events in memory of Nujabes, a rare genius producer who passed away on February 26, 2010 at the age of 36, will be held at THEATER 010 (Fukuoka) on February 22 (Thursday, before national holiday), CIRCUS (Osaka) on February 23 (Friday), WALL&WALL (Tokyo) on February 24 (Saturday), and WORLD (Kyoto) on February 25 (Sunday).
On February 7, 2024, Nujabes celebrated its 50th birth anniversary. This year, the anniversary will be commemorated with a special live performance by pianist Noriko Kose, who Nujabes admired during his lifetime, and will perform a tribute live set including “I Miss You,” the original song for Nujabes’ signature song “Reflection Eternal”. Also touring will be Toru Hashimoto (SUBURBIA), whom Nujabes looked up to as a mentor, and DJ Ryow a.k.a. Smooth Current, who supported Nujabes’ label “Hydeout Productions” during its golden era.
Nujabes went against industry norms of promotion. Instead he gained tremendous support from listeners around the world through the pure release of his music. He has been ranked third on the list of “Most Played Japanese Artists Abroad” by Spotify. We hope you will experience the lyrical and beautiful sound of Nujabes at the venues, where his music continues to be praised beyond borders, generations, and genres.
On the occasion of this tour, we have received a comment from Toru Hashimoto, who will tour all cities.
”Since it’s his 50th birth anniversary and also the 14th year since he has passed away, I would like to play songs related to his precious memories while talking about my irreplaceable memories of him from 30 years ago. To all of you who love his music, please join us in prayer for “Pray for Nujabes.”
